“So their final rentable space is going to be north of 120,000 square feet. “They actually are tenants of Jungle Jim’s (and) they’re going to build more than 50,000 square feet onto the existing facility that they have. “Churches are always very good for the community, but this is in a JEDD (joint economic-development district) area as well as in a TIF (tax-increment financing) area,” Union Township Administrator Ken Geis said. They’re welcoming the fiscal benefit that comes with the church renting space in the Jungle Jim’s International Market shopping center, the site of economic-development incentives that provide Union Township with income taxes and other revenue.Ĭrossroads is building its seventh church in the former Hobby Lobby there at 4450 Eastgate South Drive and adding a 2,000-seat auditorium. Township officials are pleased with the spiritual and social services Crossroads will provide the community when it is up and running late in 2017. In the days surrounding Thanksgiving and leading up to Christmas, Union Township is expressing gratitude for the gift that is the new Crossroads church preparing to open in Eastgate.
